Hospital Care

Because of the distance to Nashville hospitals, the Family Health Center provides only outpatient services. In the event that you need to be admitted, you will be able to choose among the hospitals that participate with your insurance. It is your responsibility to know which hospitals those are. Dr. Brown has made special arrangements with a team of physicians called "hospitalists" at St. Thomas West, St. Thomas Midtown, and Centennial Hospitals. Therefore, if you go to the Emergency Room at any of those hospitals and tell the staff that you are our patient, those hospitalist teams are automatically notified and will provide your care while in the hospital. If one of our providers has seen you first, you will be admitted directly to the hospitalist's care, bypassing the Emergency Room.

Children who are critically ill and in need of hospitalization should proceed to Vanderbilt's Pediatric Emergency Room.

Emergency Room Use

If you have an obvious injury such as a cut or broken bone, you may proceed directly to the Emergency Room without contacting your primary care provider. It is your responsibility to be familiar with your insurance plan's requirements regarding Emergency Room use. Please ask the Emergency Room to send us a record of your visit.
